LEPHALALE TAXI IMPOUNDED FOR BREAKING LOCKDOWN REGULATION.

A Toyota quantum has been impounded this morning by traffic officials in Lephalale after it was found not adhering to the 70% loading capacity.

This comes after The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) told their members to load at 100-percent capacity and long-distance operators to resume work without permits. And SANTACO threatened to commence a nationwide strike if any of their taxis are impounded by the law. Now those who rely on taxis fear that their only mode of transportation to get to their respective jobs may be halted if a taxi strike starts.

It's reported that the driver was charged R1000 for breaking the lockdown regulations and an amount of R5000 was to be paid before the taxi can be released.

Limpopo provincial spokesman Matome Moremi-Taueatsoala has advised the commuters to report any full capacities done by taxi drivers on the following numbers 0800006694 with the vehicle registration number.
