MINISTER OF BASIC EDUCATION ANGIE MOTSHEGA MEETING WITH UNIONS
Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga is expected to meet with unions on Wednesday morning to discuss various issues, including the possible closure of schools ahead of the COVID-19 peak in the country.
Ever since schools have reopened, South Africans have been pleading with the government to close all schools and have the 2020 academic year suspended.
Most people are particularly concerned with Grade R learners because they are nearly impossible to control. People fear that they will exchange masks with their friends at school, therefore risking contracting Coronavirus.
Most people took to social media to voice their opinions on the matter of schools being reopened.
Most people feel it's wrong for government officials to open schools and yet keep parliament closed.
"They know how dangerous it is and they don't want to risk their lives but they have no problem risking children's lives!" Said one person on Facebook.
"Meeting for what ka gore d 99% unions di boletse gore ba supporter issue ya gore dikolo di tswalelwe enoba Profesional union of teachers o karego a e tsebe thaba tsa yona...o kare covid19 e ka ba etela mo bayang go kopana gona ya ba tsena ya thoma ka yena mokgekolo yo wa stlaela." Said a one 'GlenRose ka-Colbert wa EFF on Facebook upon hearing that the minister of basic education will be meeting with unions.
"☝️This women is so stubborn so it is a waist of time to meet her,how many times they have been meeting her but no solution so they must stop irritating us #EngieMustGo & SchoolsMustclosed" said Shai Kudumela on Facebook.
