A police off has found himself on the wrong side of the law after he was found with illicit cigarettes worth R100 000.

The 42 years old constable and his 25 years old accomplice will appear at the Modjadjiskloof Magistrate Court.

Police spokesperson Brig Motlafela Mojapelo confirmed that the pair was arrested on Sunday evening along the R81 road in Mooketsi.

According to reports, Police received reports of a car accident where a sedan crashed into a fence. Upon arrival, Police found that the car which belongs to the 42 years old police constable was carrying 933 cartons of illicit cigarettes with an estimated value of R100,000.

The officer was disarmed and arrested alongside his accomplice, they are expected to appear at the Modjadjiskloof magistrate's court on Tuesday for contravening the Disaster Management Act.
